The protesters, including school children, were unhappy about empty promises over housing and service delivery. The ANC councils in South Africa over recent years stagnated due to corruption and mismagement. A rubber bullet hit a boy against the head but he was not seriously injured.
The protesters burned and broke down the shops of hawkers selling their goods with young children partaking in the chaos. Capt. Agnes Huma, Police spokesperson, said that people are very unhappy about service delivery and they want houses.
Nobody in the neighbourhood when to shcool or work because they were unable to leave the neigbourhood over the blocked entrances.
